Let's treat AI like a workout buddy

Easy AI for Educators

You've built something incredible as a solo online educator. But additional growth should not come at the price of your well-being. Every week, I'll send you one practical AI strategy that saves time on marketing, content, and student support. No tech skills required. It's quick to read, easy to implement, and designed specifically for course and membership creators doing it all.

It's a Friday, and you've made it through another week!

To celebrate, I wanted to share two recent quotes about AI that stuck with me.

The first is from Ann Handley of MarketingProfs, who had this to say:

"Winners treat AI like a workout buddy. The losers hand AI their Fitbit and go wait in the car."

This is the perfect description of how I think about and use AI in my business.

I am not going to hand off work to AI and let it do it on its own. No way, no how.

Instead, I use it as a partner. It helps me brainstorm ideas, improve my writing, and conduct research.

This is how I avoid adding more AI slop to what's already out there. I'm never using it to create a final product. I'm using it to make my workflow faster.

The second quote comes from Thomas L. Friedman, writing for the NY Times:

"The A.I. you are using today - as remarkable as it might seem to you - is the dumbest A.I. you're ever going to encounter."

The example he cites is that, during the early days of AI development, companies used the internet to train their models.

Because the AI was absorbing information in multiple languages, it eventually learned how to translate...without anyone explicitly teaching it how to do so.

The key point is that AI models will continue to learn and improve.

One year from now, we'll all look back and say, "Remember when AI couldn't do that?"

All the more reason to keep a close eye on what your AI tools are doing, to make sure that they don't start sending emails for you without your input.

Have a great weekend,

Chris
