Many years ago, I was fascinated by startup companies. I wanted to know how the founders came up with product ideas that resulted in multi-million dollar businesses. And the answer was that they usually didn't get it right on the first try. Take Kevin and Mike. Their original idea was a mobile app called Burbn, which people could use to share their location along with photos. It was similar to another app named Foursquare, and Kevin and Mike struggled to set it apart. Then, they noticed something interesting. While users were pleased with the ability to check in, the part of the app that they were most enthused about was sharing photos. So, Kevin and Mike ditched many of the app features they had built and went all-in on photo sharing. Their new app was called Instagram. And the startup term for what they did is called a "pivot." I am in the midst of my own pivot. Initially, I planned to help course and membership creators set up and manage their tech platforms. That's why I created Tech Stack Heroes. But then, quite by accident, I stumbled across a new way to leverage AI for marketing. And I was hooked from the start. This new approach resolves numerous questions I had when running Tech Stack Heroes. Questions like:
And - of course - how do I build, manage, market, and run a solo business with limited time and resources? Without someone else to brainstorm with who understood my business, I struggled to make decisions and move on. Tasks that should have involved minutes took hours. Hours dragged out into days, weeks, and months. But now, I have an AI helper. It not only understands the business I'm trying to create, but it's also an expert website designer, copywriter, editor, and coder. It helps me write copy, create lead magnets, research landing page designs, and craft video scripts, all in a fraction of the time it used to take. The more I've worked with my new AI business partner, the more excited I've become about teaching other solo and small business owners how to do the same. So, I decided to pivot. From now on, I'll be pushing the pause button on Tech Stack Heroes and focusing instead on The AI-First Business. This new venture will help small business owners supercharge their marketing with an assist from AI tools. I plan to run monthly workshops and - starting in April - a shiny new membership program.
